Whats the best 125cc learner bike?

I recently took my girlfriend on the back of my bike for a full day of riding on my Bandit.

She has now decided she wants to start.

She needs to take the CBT first but when she passes what is the best 125cc to buy?

Personally i never went down the 125cc route so im unsure.

Looking for something that is quick (for a 125cc) practical and suitable for a learner??

sensible answers appreciated |||Two good choices are the Honda CG125 and the XL125 Varadero. Both excellent machines that require little maintainance and can take the abuse that most learners throw at them.|||I brought Yamaha ybr 125cc 3months ago and its wonder full machine, You get breakdown for a year as well as a good warranty for 3years. I also had a crash with a idiotic lorry driver who decided to come on my side of the road and the bike only had a couple scraps and was back fixed on the road within 24hours.

A few of my friends have had hondas and 2 of those have had theres wrote off through no fault of there own and they were just by hitting kerbs and newbie bike rider mistakes.

Take my word the yamaha ybr is a great first time bike and quite light and how many bikes can be picked up from the road after being hit by a lorry and still able to ride it to the garage.

Also dont forget about good bike wear but as you are a biker yourself im sure you are aware of this|||depends what she wants,

if speed is the need then iwould go for a aprillia rs125 or yamaha tzr125 or derbi gpr125, all three are capiable of 105mph

if rliability is the need then i would recommend the cbr125 my friend has one and parts are easy to get hold of,

if you want both then i would personaly go for a peugeot speedfight 2 100cc the piston doesnt melt like a 125 and are easier to ride and are much more fun.|||Honda CG125 all the way, not too powerful that they loop it by giving it a fist full but will get to 70mph.

4 stroke engine that will last forever if you do regular oil changes and look after it.

It's the No1 bike for riding schools

Just bought one for my girlfriend to mess about on.||| My son is currently learning to ride on a BAJA DR-125. Gloriously cheap and dependable. These little gems are, in reality, throw-a-way bikes. You ride it for a year or so and pass it on to the next new rider to practise on.

I even ride it at times. It's a fun little machine.|||Honda CBR 125 : Most reliable, best mpg, comfy

Aprilia RS125 (mine):) : Fast, Handling superb, Comfyish, Looks outstanding, easy to learn on, brilliant all round.|||Kawasaki Eliminator 125. Cheap, reasonably comfortably, great gas mileage, low seat height, and EASY to operate. These are frequently used bikes at MSF courses so may be able to find a well maintained used one at local Kawi dealer.|||Honda Innova Stepthru at nearly 拢2000

or

Wuyang Made in the Honda Factory almost identical to the Honda but only 拢1000 OTR

so it's got to be the Wuyang 125-24-B

|||I was learning to ride on a skyjet 125. For a first bike this was just the job. Cost me 拢700 for one that was 3 months old looked just like a Honda CBR.|||ktm exc 125 iz the best learner bike 4 any 1 who wants to have serious all round fun but not 4 your girlfriend 2 learn on |||Has to be the honda 125 cbr. tried and tested, the cheap imports are ok if you plan to upgrade soon|||I learned on a YB100 - the RX-S100 is better though...|||i would go for a honda

they are reliable and not too fast
