i will use the bike for touring but mostly for weekend recreation. i want something comfortable, reliable, cool looking, enough power for a pillion passenger and suitable for a mere novice to the biking world. i like the look of a bandit 600, also a varadero1000 or something similar to those bikes, not new, maybe 2002-3 but obviously insurance is a factor and minimal outlay on servicing as this biking malarkey is expensive. thankyou for any help you will be able to give me.|||I think some of your criteria aren't in line with your experience level. Even if you get a bike suitable for touring (comfortable, attached luggage, sufficient wind protection) you likely lack the skill to operate it with a passenger. You will require the skill necessary to carry that much more weight as well as the skill to compensate for the fact that the passenger will usually do the wrong thing at the wrong time, causing you to lose control. Consider taking the time to get used to riding your intended routes without a passenger, and practice emergency maneuvers before riding anywhere with a passenger.|||Looking at what you want from a bike, have a look at a decent second hand KTM Duke. They are incrediblely good fun, loads of torque so good for passengers, and comfortable tourers. They also look amazing in the right colours, real head turners. Real throaty sound too, have a look on youtube, see if you like the sound and looks. There are some good examples on autotrader.co.uk/BIKES/bikes.jsp GOOD HUNTING|||Yamaha FZ6, 2004-2006
Suzuki SV650 (S), or V Strom 650 (all have same engine) 2001-2006
Kawasaki 650 Ninja, or Versys (both have same engine) 2004-2006|||well top of my list is a Suzuki LS 650 also called a 'Savage' very nice looking bike, low to the ground often known as a starter bike with a bit of power behind it.
Well Done and Enjoy!|||SV650, the S version with a small fairing. Perfect starter bike, light, easy to ride, no vices, fun. Enough power to use two-up. This bike will grow with you - the better you get, the faster it will go!|||You really just need to get out and start sitting on different bikes. You gotta find one that you are comfortable on first and foremost.|||kawasaki zx6e|||the last of the SACS 650 bandits 2005 model will be in your price range, enough grunt for a day out at the track and with a subtle side too. but consider maintainance costs
Bandits (all of them) up to the water cooled model have to be serviced every 3,500 miles and there is a big service at 7,000 mile intervals and multiples there of.
a simple low maintainance and ecconomical bike is the yamaha diversion 600 and 900. simple 8 valve 4 cyl multiple. not a high horsepower bike and due to the later fazer a bit of an unloved aunty.. so expect good private bargains and a lot of bike for your money
later models were sold with a complete set of luggage as a loss leader sales gimmick. So expect to pay 拢1,900 for a late model faired 900 with full givi luggage even from a dealer.. about what you'd pay for a naked 600 bandit with no frills or extras privately..
as a beginer stay away from the varadero 1000, it is big heavy bulky and very expensive to repair if you drop it... expect to pay nearly a grand for a straight replacement tank. and if the bike goes over it is gonna get damaged at the least and holed at the worse..
